INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY

Since 2013, the Japanese Clinical Orthopaedic Association has held the annual Japan-Korea Clinical Orthopedics Joint Meeting with the cooperation of the Korean Association of Orthopedic Surgeons. The first joint meeting was held in Seoul, Korea, on April 27, 2013. Since then, joint meetings have been held annually in Japan and Korea, alternately. English abstracts and proceedings from these meetings have been published in this journal since volume 43, in 2018.

BRIEF HISTORY

In 1975, the Japanese Clinical Orthopaedic Association was established for the purposes of improving orthopedic practice and promoting mutual friendship among orthopedic clinicians in Japan.

The Journal of the Japanese Clinical Orthopaedic Association was established as the organ of the Japanese Clinical Orthopaedic Association in 1976.

In 1978, the first original article, which described the anatomical characteristics of Japanese knee joints, was published.

The first scientific meeting of the Japanese Clinical Orthopaedic Association took place at Taisho Seiyaku Hall, Tokyo on June 19th, 1988.

In 1989, it was decided that the presentations and discussions from the annual meetings of the Japanese Clinical Orthopaedic Association should be recorded and published. Subsequently, 27 papers (23 presentations, 2 speeches, and 2 lectures) and 4 records of discussions from the first meeting in 1988 were published.

Since then, scientific meetings of the Japanese Clinical Orthopaedic Association have been held annually, presentations at the meetings and contributed papers have increased in number, and members of the Japanese Clinical Orthopaedic Association have improved themselves through friendly rivalry.

The Journal of the Japanese Clinical Orthopaedic Association became a peer-reviewed journal in 2017, and started publishing English articles in volume 44, in 2019.
